Emeralds for May Babes

Emeralds For May Babes

By: Deutsch Fine Jewelry

It’s time for the other zodiacs to turn green with envy because the verdant princess has arrived: It’s May, ladies. That means our May Tauruses and Geminis are bound to be bedecked in their lush green gemstone: the iconic emerald. Ranging in hue from deep blue-greens to bright kelly greens, emeralds are striking in any form they take. Like any classic gemstone, they are also chock-full of symbolism and history. Back in the days of alchemy and humors, emeralds were said to be a remedy for poison. While we can’t necessarily bolster that claim, their pastoral presence does give the emerald an otherworldly vibe. We don’t have to regale you with the fame of emeralds. Cleopatra was known for bedecking herself from head to toe in regal emerald gemstones. The most prized emeralds can be virtually priceless - in 2011, Elizabeth Taylor’s famous emerald pendant sold for over 6 million dollars - that’s a whopping 250k per carat.

Our May-born Taurans and Geminis are the perfect match for a sparkling, verdant emerald gemstone. Tauruses born in May are known for knowing what they want and grabbing it. Career-focused, and goal-oriented, May Tauruses might want to spring a little extra for the finer things in life after a day’s hard work. Our Taurus sisters are highly-responsible in general, but the May-born variety can be a little more laid back than their April counterparts, leaving room for flexibility and color. Emeralds can be just the pop they need for the perfect look. May-born Geminis, on the other hand, are wild and unpredictable, but fun-loving and exciting to be around. Their capricious nature can be an absolute blast, and their witty, talkative tendencies make them the de facto life-of-the-party. A large glowing green emerald displayed prominently on a May Gemini’s outfit can bring her the confidence boost that will turn a good night to a great one.

Charmed, I’m Sure

Emeralds come in all shapes and sizes, but also in multiple hues and cuts as well. While the “emerald cut” is named after the most common way to cut an emerald gemstone, many folks prefer a more natural look to the deep green stone. The Emerald Halo Charm Bracelet by Meira T accentuates the natural shape of the raw emerald by surrounding the stone in a delicate halo of tiny white diamonds. Dangling sweetly from the warm yellow gold bracelet chain are dots of brilliant round diamond charms. Altogether, this charm bracelet exudes the individuality that both May Tauruses and May Geminis share.

The Road to Emerald City

Leave it to Lauren K to make a one-of-a-kind piece that celebrates a stone’s raw beauty. The Joyce Emerald Four Stone Earrings by Lauren K is reminiscent of a fairytale stepping stone path, set in shining yellow gold. Because the ethos of a Lauren K design is typically hinged on bringing out the stone’s natural beauty, their pieces are oftentimes truly one-of-a-kind works of art. The transparency of the emeralds allows the wearer to see the tiny inclusions in the stone - not hidden, but displayed prominently as additions to the piece. Every dark green striation through the translucent stone adds a touch of character and a hint of whimsy. These emerald and gold earrings make for the perfect addition to a May Taurus or Gemini’s jewelry box.

Not Your Mother’s Halo

We’ve all seen a million different variations of the diamond halo - and don’t us wrong, we’d love to see a million more. A beautiful pavé (french for street-paving) of tiny white diamonds around a prominent gemstone adds a touch of elegance to any jewelry piece. However, isn’t it just a nice little treat to see something a little different? Instead of the gemstone in the middle with a diamond pavé, Kwiat created the Ashoka Diamond Drop Earrings with Emerald Halos, making the emerald gemstone the lining of the diamond. Looking closer, they also hold a gorgeous inner-halo of white diamonds that accentuates the sparkle of these emerald, diamond, and white gold earrings. A showstopper of a set, these emerald and diamond earrings are sure to turn heads at any event.
