LETTER FROM LANCE

Purchasing jewelry isn’t just a transaction, it’s a personal statement that reflects our customer’s ideal of themselves. It’s this insight that we at Deutsch Houston have not only taken to heart but, built an entire business around. Deutsch Houston takes pride in knowing our client’s personal tastes, preferences and even lifestyles, not just ring sizes. The same level of personal attention applies to caring for our customer’s heirloom jewelry and keepsakes, with expert cleaning and even redesigning heirloom jewelry to give them new life. It’s a higher standard of personal service unique in the Houston area.
Deutsch Houston’s journey started with humble beginnings in 1929, growing from a simple gift shop to a purveyor of fine jewelry and watches. Today, Deutsch Houston’s legacy continues as we start a new chapter in a long-heralded family business, serving today and tomorrow’s generations of Houstonians.
If you like what we’ve done with the brand, please let us know the next time you’re in the store. We always love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Lance Deutsch, owner

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: PICCHIOTTI

Founder Giuseppe Picchiotti had a clear vision from an early age for creating the finest jeweler. As a child from a long line of physicians, the family opposed his goal of entering the jewelry trade. Yet, at age 13, he apprenticed as a goldsmith and never looked back.
Today the legendary family endeavor is precision-run by Picchiotti, a highly respected connoisseur of fine colored gemstones and diamonds, and seven family members: A charismatic, multi-generational group focusing on creating the most distinctive and sophisticated fine jewelry. Each family member oversees different aspects of the business and contributes greatly to its success.

What is your favorite customer memory?
My first holiday season was perhaps the most memorable one for me. The excitement of the holidays, seeing the store completely full of customers all day long, gift wrapping all the purchases and making sure everything went to the correct customer. However, one customer, one gift-wrapped purchase stands out the most to me. He was a long-time customer of the store and purchased a beautiful pair of diamond stud earrings for his wife. He put a lot of thought into this gift and wanted to make it extra special for her. He asked us to find the perfect pair of “pears” (fruit) to complement the perfect pair of diamond studs he had just purchased for her. We gift wrapped the earrings and placed them inside of another box with the pears sitting right on top of the gift-wrapped earrings. We wrapped about five or six boxes, each one bigger than the other. I remember the customer being in awe when he came to pick up the HUGE present. After the holidays, we got a visit from the very happy wife and heard the story of how great her Christmas was. Every holiday season after that, I would look forward to seeing him and what thoughtful ideas he had because of course, we had to top that one!

THE STORY OF JAMES AND JESSICA

James and Jessica have known each other since high school but did not “make it official” until they reunited in Houston after parting ways for college and a career in the military. Once they had moved back, they became inseparable and knew their love was the forever kind. James began searching for the perfect ring and visited Deutsch to begin the ring buying process. He worked with Ashley McCormick to select the ring of Jessica’s dreams. One night, after a romantic date at Steak 48, the couple went for a stroll around River Oaks District. James got down on one knee, expressed his undying love for Jessica, and the happy couple celebrated with family and friends to toast their forever happiness. Jessica absolutely adores her oval cut diamond and loves how it sparkles. They will wed early next year and look forward to visiting Deutsch to mark future milestone events as they enjoy wedded bliss for many years to come.
